Effective May 16, 2022:
All GPS and precision farming systems utilizing the WAAS/SBAS (free) correction signal MUST be configured to use Satellite WAAS 135. Most systems will NOT operate until they are configured to use WAAS 135.
Previously, most GPS in Southern Alberta used WAAS 138 for differential corrections. WAAS 138 is being retired and will be decommissioned on May 16, 2022. It's replacement, WAAS 135, is currently operational so the change to WAAS 135 can be made at any time.
The Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) is ran by the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) and used for aeronautic navigation, various government agencies, and precision agriculture. The changes being made to the WAAS satellites are out of the control of New Holland and
Vanee Farm Centre Inc. has provided step-by-step instructions for each type of GPS receiver. Please find the model of your receiver below and CLICK THE LINK TO DOWNLOAD the instructions.
